Update Role Cards

Hey guys, update Role Cards is finally here 🥳 This is likely the biggest content update since the beginning of Wolvesville 😱 Quick summary:

  • Roles have been organised into two groups, base and advanced roles. Base roles are usually a bit easier to understand and play with, whereas advanced roles are often a bit more complicated.
  • For each base role you can collect cards.
  • Cards grant bonuses (called perks), such as additional xp or the ability to send highlighted chat messages.
  • Cards can be upgraded to unlock better perks and the ability to switch between the base and advanced role at the beginning of a game 💪

Read below for more details, the motivation behind these changes and an outlook for the future of Wolvesville!

Happy hunting! 🐺

What are cards

Cards

Starting with this update, roles will be categorized as base, advanced or other roles. Base roles are “standard” roles such as doctor, aura seer or alpha werewolf. Each base role has one or more advanced roles. Advanced roles are similar in strength to base roles except are often a bit more complicated to play with.

Priest card

For example priest is a base role and marksman its advanced role. Playing as priest is rather straight forward: find a player you think is a werewolf, throw your holy water at them. Done! Playing as marksman requires a bit more planning ahead. On the plus side, as marksman you can kill two evil players!

ℹ️ Quick games and sandbox games contain base roles only.

Pick role

For each base role you can collect cards. When equipped a card will give you various bonuses in game. One of these bonuses is the ability to switch between the base and advanced role at the beginning of a game 😱 This allows more experienced players to choose their preferred playstyle (e.g. priest vs marksman), while giving newer players a chance to learn the game first before having to master more complicated roles 🤓

Card perks

Detective card details

Each card has between 1 and 4 “perks”. Perks give you small bonuses in game. Currently, the following perks exist:

  • Talisman boost: increases the effectiveness of talismans
  • Unlimited talismans: talismans have an X% chance of not being consumed
  • Win xp boost: additional xp when winning
  • Friends games xp boost: additional xp when playing with friends
  • Battle pass xp boost: additional xp for your battle pass
  • Clan quest xp boost: additional xp for your active quest
  • Decreased clan quest waiting times: reduces the waiting time for the next tier of an active clan quest
  • Rose boost: gives you bonus free roses when receiving roses from others
  • Message highlight: allows sending a special highlighted message to all players during the day
  • Modify discussion time: allows increasing / decreasing the discussion time
  • Chat stats: view stats about the messages sent from other players
  • Player notes: allows collecting private notes about other players
  • Voting logs: view who voted for whom the previous day(s). If the vote was private (e.g. shadow werewolf), no info is shown

Cards perk upgrade

Perks start at tier 1 and can be upgraded to tier 3 which increases their effectiveness.

Perk exchange voucher

In the future you will be able to collect “perk exchange vouchers” (available in the battle pass!) which allow you to replace one ability on a card with another one.

Card rarities

Card rarities

Each card has a rarity: common, rare, epic or legendary. The higher the rarity, the more perks a card has:

  • common: 1 perk
  • rare: 2 perks
  • epic: 2 perks + advanced role
  • legendary: 4 perks + advanced role

Cards can be upgraded by sacrificing other cards of the same rarity 💪

How to unlock cards

Cards

Cards can be unlocked in a number of ways:

  • Level up: you receive one free card for each new level (blue chests), with a maximum of 5 cards per day and 30 cards per month
  • Daily rewards
  • Weekly challenges
  • Shop

If you want to see how many “level up” cards you have received recently, head over to the cards help menu and open the “How to obtain cards” section.

Talismans

Talismans work just like they did before the update. If you play a gamemode with cards enabled (quick games or sandbox) and have a card with an advanced role equipped, you can use the talisman for the base role to increase the chance to be able to choose between the base and advanced role at the start of a game.

Talisman migration

If you had talismans for advanced roles prior to the update, these talismans were automatically converted into talismans for the base roles, both the number of talismans and their upgraded strength. If e.g. you had 5 gunner talismans with strength 20 and 15 vigialante talismans with strength 15, after the update you will have 20 vigilante talismans with strength 25 (base strength of 10 + 10 gunner upgrades + 5 vigilante upgrades = 25).

Veteran bonus

Veteran bonus

If you have been a long time Wolvesville player you might have played with some advanced roles for a while, for example gunner or marksman. In order to prevent the cards update feeling like you are “losing” access to those roles, veteran cards have been added. For each advanced role where you have played a certain number of games with, you will receive a free card that has this advanced role unlocked. As a result you can continue playing with these advanced roles without having to unlock them again.

Other small changes

  • New logo & updated werewolf icons 😍
  • New day / night transition animations
  • “Curtain” animation when heros join a game
  • Clicking on rewards in battle pass, daily rewards, quests etc. show a preview and explanation of that reward
  • Wolvesville has officially reached version 2.0! 🥳

The future of Wolvesville

Going forward we want to do another “quality update” phase which focuses purely on quality of live changes, bug fixing and generally improving areas that haven’t received attention recently (e.g. custom games, role stats, ranked, etc.). If you have something that’s on your mind, please let us know under #feedback in Discord, we’d love to hear your thoughts!

After the quality update we want to take a look at adding more events, maybe even a rework of crazy games 😉

If you have any feedback or just want to stop by and chat, please make sure to visit our Discord server at https://discord.gg/wolvesville 😊

Thank you for reading and happy hunting! 🐺
