Dinos update

Dinos update banner

Hey everyone, the Dinos update is here! A lot of things going on this time, click the links below to jump straight into what matters most to you:

šŸ’¬ Discord Social SDK

Discord Social SDK

A few seasons ago we added the ability to link your Wolvesville account with your Discord account. This was only interesting for moonlight subscription members (you’d get a special role in our Discord server). With this update the Wolvesville <–> Discord integration (which is officially known as the ā€œDiscord Social SDKā€) comes with a bunch of new features:

  • Enhanced Rich Presence – Your Discord profile will now dynamically show your current game mode, lobby status, and lobby language in real time. Your Discord friends will be able to join your lobby via Rich Presence
  • Party Invites – You can now send game invites or request to join a friend’s lobby directly through your Discord chats and channels.
  • Friend Invites – In ā€œPlay with Friendsā€ lobbies, there is a new option to invite your Discord friends without leaving the game.
  • Rewards – There are 3 new avatar items you can unlock for free when trying out the above features

To use these features, simply link your Discord account in the in-game settings under Social Links, then Discord. If you had previously linked your account for the moonlight membership benefit you’ll need to ā€œRelinkā€ your account. If you don’t want your friends to join via your status, you can disable this in the settings under Friends. Discord Social SDK is not available on web.

šŸ‘¤ Profile

Sort badges & profile favorites

Previously both badges and profile favorites had a fixed (semi random) order. No more! You now determine the order for both yourself, similar to how outfit slots can be re-arranged.

Preview option

A new preview mode lets you view your own profile exactly as another player sees it. Useful for checking what’s actually visible after you’ve toggled visibility settings, hidden slots, or rearranged things.

Battle Pass badges

Your profile now has a dedicated Battle Pass badges section. Every BP season you participate in earns you a badge, with a ribbon showing how far you progressed in that season’s pass. They all live in one place on your profile so you can look back on past seasons and show off what you’ve achieved.

šŸŽ Role changes

Blind werewolf

  • When resigning their ability, blind werewolf and wolf seer now turn into a regular werewolf . Regular werewolves are ā€œofficiallyā€ the weakest werewolf type and are hence the target of certain actions. For example beast hunter traps will always kill the weakest alive werewolf
  • Checking a player who has already been checked now reveals their aura

Conjuror

  • The dead chat now shows a system message letting everyone know that conjuror can’t read it that night (if conjuror took a role the previous day)
  • Grave robber and conjuror who take the bully role now see who was previously concussed and share the bully’s kill limit
  • Conjuror can now inherit extra votes from preacher

Grave robber

  • If a grave robber takes a solo killer’s role and wins, the dead solo killer now wins alongside them
  • Grave robber now gets a system message telling them who their target is

Lurker

  • Lurker and admirer now show their icon on the game over screen when they end up on the winning team
  • A new game over system message also calls out any winning lurker or admirer , so it’s clearer who was working for which side
  • Lurker can now be converted straight into the werewolf team by kitten wolf , or into the bandit team
  • Lurker no longer receives the evil alliance xp when they’re part of the village team

Mortician

  • Mortician now sees 3 suspects when checking an instigator victim, in line with how other solo killers are handled
  • If a killer team includes a converted lurker , the lurker is now shown as the suspect instead of the actual killer

Sorcerer

  • The information result is now delivered through werewolf night chat instead of day chat
  • Auto-conversion to werewolf is now skipped on the first night, to avoid issues when a fled werewolf gets hero-replaced
  • Sorcerer can now see who the werewolves are voting for at night

Werewolf seer

  • When resigning their ability, werewolf seer now turns into a regular werewolf (same reasoning as blind werewolf above)

Wolf summoner

  • The game over check now runs right after a revival instead of waiting until the end of the night
  • Players revived by wolf summoner will no longer auto-flee when AFK

Other tweaks

  • All players who aren’t on the village team at the end of the game are now eligible for evil alliance XP
  • Swamp wolf : discussion phase is now half as long while a swamp is active
  • Wolf scribe can now fake a few additional kill causes that were previously missing: corruptor (which will hide the role), siren , blight , party wolf , and yule wolf
  • The ā€œghost wolf is also votingā€ message is now hidden when the ghost wolf ’s role was hidden in the first place (e.g. corruptor , wolf scribe …)
  • The instigator ’s night kill target selection is now visible to their recruits as well
  • Candy wolf : poison now converts cursed and werewolf fan into werewolves rather than killing them
  • When a jelly wolf protects a stubborn werewolf , the protection is consumed instead of wounding the stubborn werewolf
  • Corruptor : corruption now automatically ends when the day does, whether or not the target was killed. This fixes the case of permanently corrupted lovers or targets when the corruptor flees the game
  • Evil cupid : each pair now uses a different icon color, making it easier to remember who belongs with whom
  • Ferryman finally has its own chat button icon, instead of borrowing the conjuror one
  • Arsonist : a system message now lists which players were doused that night, handy when reviewing logs
  • Fortune teller : no longer reveals the role of their sect leader if FT gave the leader a card, was then sected and killed before the leader used it
  • Priest can now water their own sect leader to give them extra claim space (the priest dies in the process)

šŸƒ Cards

Apply perk exchange voucher from cards view

If you have a perk exchange voucher in your inventory, you can now apply it directly from the role card detail view. No more hopping between screens to spend it.

Mythical auto-pick: preferred advanced role

You can now nominate a preferred advanced role for mythical auto-pick. When auto-pick triggers, it’ll go for your preferred advanced role first instead of picking arbitrarily.

Adjustable column count

The cards hub now supports an adjustable column count, the same way the inventory does. Pack more cards on screen at once, or spread them out, whatever works for you.

Card upgrade history

Card upgrade history

Have you ever wondered what happened to a card or how you unlocked a specific role icon during an update event? The card upgrade history now gives you a detailed overview of what happened with your card and what rewards you got while upgrading them. All card changes since 2026-03-19 can be viewed.

No more Fool / Headhunter weekly free cards

Fool and Headhunter cards are no longer handed out as weekly free role cards. They aren’t broken, but since both are also base roles, getting one as your weekly card just felt underwhelming. Removing them from the rotation should make weekly free cards feel more rewarding.

šŸŽ® Custom games

Host private chats with individual players

In host mode, the host can now open a 1-on-1 chat with any player in the game. Useful for moderating, coordinating, or just sending someone a private nudge during a custom game.

Host games visible in logs

Games run in host mode now appear in your game history, even though the host doesn’t actually play. Easier to find that custom session you ran last week.

Mini games in lobbies

The mini games button is now available inside custom game lobbies, so you can play while waiting for the lobby to fill up.

šŸ† Ranked

Lurker SP loss reduced by 50%

Based on your feedback, Lurker’s SP loss on a defeat is now half of what it was. Should make the role feel less punishing to play.

šŸŽ’ Inventory

Loot box overview modal

If you’ve stockpiled a lot of loot boxes, there’s a new modal that gives you a clean overview of everything you own at a glance.

ā€œDisable allā€ button on talismans

A single button to disable every active talisman at once. Available from level 6 onward, same as the talisman filter.

🐺 Game

Spectators can play mini games

Spectators can now join and play mini games during a match, instead of just watching.

Increased evil alliance win XP

The XP bonus for evil alliance wins has been doubled, from 10 to 20.

10 new kill animations

We’ve added kill animations for 10 more roles that didn’t have one yet. Tap any role to play its animation.

Themed kill messages for solo killers

Solo killers now have their own themed kill messages instead of the generic ones. Small touch, but it makes each role feel a bit more distinct when they strike.

šŸŽ« Battle Pass

Challenge reworks

Based on your feedback the following challenges got a small rework:

  • Play with friends games challenge requirement reduced from 40 to 30
  • The hero quest has been moved to week 4 to not conflict with the friends challenge

Intro animations

When you go from the dashboard to join a game the screen does a brief flash before showing you the game grid. That’s fine, it works, but we wanted to add a little more flair. Enter: intro animations. They are a 1s long transition animation that shows when switching between these screens.

How to unlock / use? When you purchase the battle pass you’ll receive your very first two intro animations for free, both Dino themed šŸ¦– Future battle passes will likely give a single animation only, but we wanted to have two this season to get your feedback on which type of animation you prefer more:

  • More complex animations like the T-Rex
  • Simple animations like the egg-shell

Click the buttons below to test them right here:

Don’t like either? No problem, they are optional and can be disabled in your inventory.

šŸš‚ Steam

Steam Trading Cards

Steam Trading Cards

Are you an active Steam user who wants a little more Werewolf flair on their profile? Wolvesville is getting Steam Trading cards, badges, profile backgrounds and emoticons!

To craft a badge and unlock rewards like backgrounds or emoticons, you will need to collect the full set of cards. As Wolvesville is free-to-play, cards will be obtainable through Steam’s standard Free to Play system (via in-game purchases) or by trading with other players in the Community Market.

The Steam review process sadly didn’t quite finish in time for the release of this blog post so the cards technically aren’t available quite yet, but we’ll make a quick announcement once they are out.

macOS support

Pretty self-explanatory: Wolvesville on Steam now works on macOS!

šŸ›”ļø Moderation

Profanity filter

When we turned on the new chat filter in sandbox, some of you said it felt too strict. That’s fair feedback, so we want to be clear about why we’re keeping it on while we keep tuning.

Before rolling it out, we ran a six-week randomized test in Sandbox. Half of all games used the new filter, half stayed on the old one, assigned randomly per game. Across the test, games with the new filter saw a clear drop in player reports for hateful language, racism, and chat spam. Reports for unrelated reasons (like role abandonment or random kills) were essentially unchanged between the two groups. That tells us the filter is catching more genuinely abusive chat, not just shifting how people use the report button.

The system still over-flags some legitimate messages, and we’re actively tuning to bring those down. If one of your clean messages gets blocked, please let us know. Those examples are exactly what we use to make it more accurate.

Email verification

Only took us 8 years, but email verification is finally a thing for email sign-ups! šŸ˜… New accounts created via email (and email changes on existing accounts) now require verification before the email is considered valid. We’re also blocking disposable email providers, plus-tag tricks, and a few other common dodges used to spin up throwaway accounts. Late to the party, we know, but better late than never, and it gives our moderation team a sturdier foundation to work from.

Stricter device bans

Device bans have more bite now. Without going into specifics (no point handing the playbook to ban evaders), bans are harder to evade across accounts than they used to be 😈

🧹 Misc

Poll history

You can now browse past polls and their results, not just whatever’s currently active. Look back at what the community voted on and how it landed.

Role setups

In our Discord feedback section you guys frequently wish for updated setups for sandbox and other games modes. We have decided to invite a small set of volunteers that can update setups for all game modes without having to wait on us devs first to build the setups first. This should lead to much more frequent changes and to many more interesting combinations! The system is expected to go live next week, we’re excited!

Hero joining queue

Almost last but definitely not least, another much-requested feature that took us longer than it should have to add: a proper hero games queue! We’ve rewritten how the hero joining system works under the hood, so we can now show you your position in the queue to give you a rough idea of how long the wait will be.

Event roles

We hear your feedback that event roles are difficult to unlock and that if you miss them you’ll have to wait a full year before getting another chance. To make things slightly easier for those that have a life outside of Wolvesville (you really shouldn’t have one though), we’re announcing the very first all event roles event (horrible name yes šŸ™ˆ)! Details are still a bit fuzzy, but at the very least it will:

  • Be an event during which you can upgrade any previously obtained event role card from any event
  • Get the chance to unlock 1 random event role card that you don’t yet have (assuming you don’t have all)

More news soon, this will be fun!

As always, please let us know your thoughts and comments, we would love to hear from you! Talk to us on Discord at https://discord.gg/wolvesville

Thank you for reading and happy hunting! 🐺
