Dark fantasy update

Dark fantasy update banner

Hey everyone, the Dark Fantasy update is here! Plenty going on this time: a brand new werewolf role, a big batch of role tweaks and a stack of quality-of-life improvements. Click the links below to jump straight into what matters most to you:

🧹 New role: Firework Wolf

Say hello to the Firework Wolf, the first non-event advanced role of Party Wolf .

Firework Wolf

Every night the werewolves fail to kill anyone, the Firework Wolf quietly stores up a firework, up to a maximum of two. When it finally decides to strike during the day, it sets off everything it has saved at once: one player goes down per stored firework, all in a single unmissable blast, and the Firework Wolf reveals itself in the process.

🔊 Sound & animations

New night music

Six more roles now get their own dedicated night theme. Tap one to have a listen, it’ll keep playing while you read on:

8 new death animations

We’ve added death animations for 8 more roles that didn’t have one yet, including the brand new Firework Wolf. Tap any role to play its animation.

🎭 Role changes

Astronomer

  • The new moon has been tweaked slightly. Werewolves can now still vote during the night. They cannot kill anyone, however they are now able to convert cursed , wolf fan or lurker with their attack.

Blind werewolf , Sorcerer & Wolf seer

  • If you don’t pick a target before the night ends, the blind werewolf , sorcerer and wolf seer now automatically check a valid player for you, so a missed tap no longer wastes your ability.
  • We’ve updated the role descriptions to make it clear that resigning is always optional. Even when the wolf seer is the last werewolf alive, it will never auto-resign.

Ferryman

  • The ferryman can now select the same player twice, handing over two paddles to extend how long that player stays protected.

Party wolf & Firework wolf

  • A party wolf or firework wolf that has switched sides, by being turned into a lover by cupid or recruited by instigator , can now use their kill ability on other werewolves.

President

  • A president who flees, leaves or goes AFK now stays in the game as an inactive player instead of dying on the spot. One player rage-quitting can no longer instantly swing the game (the usual leave penalties still apply to the player who left).
  • Killing a president now counts toward the “win as werewolf” challenge.

Werewolf fan

  • When a werewolf fan reveals itself to a werewolf-team player, the whole werewolf chat is now told, so the entire werewolf team learns the fan is on their side instead of just the one player it revealed to.
  • When a shadow wolf doubles the werewolf team’s votes, the werewolf fan’s votes now get doubled too.

Other tweaks

  • Warden : when werewolves locked in the warden’s jail fail to break out because the warden was saved by an admirer or ferryman , they now get a private message telling them the breakout didn’t work.
  • Grave robber who loots a dead bell-ringer now inherits the bell-ringer’s earlier role reveals.
  • Grave robber : if a stolen role puts them on the werewolf team, the werewolves are now told in werewolf chat that a new wolf has joined.
  • Evil detective : checking the instigator together with someone they recruited, or cupid together with one of their lovers, now correctly reads as the same team, instead of flagging them as enemies and killing both.
  • Yule wolf : when an admirer’s protection blocks a yule wolf sacrifice, the player who sacrificed themselves now survives and gets a message letting them know they made it through and are no longer role-blocked.
  • Junior werewolf : if it dies without having picked a revenge target, the game now picks a random valid one.
  • Wolf magician : pending transformation marks (who is about to be turned into what) are now shown to the whole werewolf team.
  • Bodyguard : when its protection triggers, the message now names the target that was attacked instead of a generic note.
  • Pumpkin oracle : icons are now options in the role card note perk.
  • Wolf pacifist : it now gets a warning if it tries to use its ability while a shadow wolf is already active, so it doesn’t cancel out the shadow wolf’s doubled votes by accident.
  • Red lady : when it dies, it now gets a system message reminding it which player it visited.
  • Toxic wolf : its description now spells out that its poison cannot kill solo killers.
  • Players who are role-blocked or muted can now still vote to skip the discussion phase.
  • Wolf scribe : the role list is now ordered by your own team first (werewolf tree first), with each base role grouped next to its advanced variants, instead of the old villager-first sort.

🎯 Challenges & XP

Solo team challenges count even if you got bonded

The “win with the solo team” challenge now progresses even when the solo player became a lover or a recruit during the game. Previously those games didn’t count.

No more XP penalty on challenge rewards

Claimed challenge XP is now added after the “left after death” penalty, so your battle pass challenge rewards are no longer cut by the 25% reduction that applies when you leave a game after dying.

See your progress on the game over screen

After each match, the game over screen now highlights the battle pass challenges you made progress on or completed that game, so you can watch your climb without opening the challenges tab.

đŸ§© Misc

Random roles, now as a grid

The “possible random roles” for a slot are now shown as a visual grid of role icons in the role overview, instead of a plain text list. Much easier to scan at a glance.

Filter by multiple colors

You can now filter your inventory and avatar items by more than one color at once, instead of being limited to a single color.

Invert your talismans

Talisman premium owners get a new option to switch talismans into anti-talismans from the lobby. No more leaving the game required.

Don’t lose event cards by accident

Sacrificing an event role card during an upgrade now pops a confirmation prompt first, so a rare event card can’t disappear on a mistap.

Share your game logs

You can now share a saved game log with a link. Send it to anyone and they can open it in their browser to see exactly how the game played out, even if they weren’t in it.

Interactive public API docs

For the developers building bots and integrations on our public API, the documentation got a big upgrade. It now runs on an OpenAPI specification with an interactive playground: drop in your API key and fire real requests straight from the docs with the “Execute” button. Every endpoint spells out its request and response fields, including which are required and which can be null, and common error responses are documented too.

A few endpoints also return more data now: player profiles expose their image, colors, events, badges and favorites, roles carry an event ID for event roles, item bundles include localized names and descriptions, and profile icons include an image URL. The docs now cover the full API too, including previously undocumented endpoints like badges, moonlight rewards and events.

🚂 Steam

Trading cards

We announced these back in the Dinos update, but the Steam review process wasn’t quite finished in time. They’re now live: Wolvesville Steam Trading Cards are available!

Wolvesville Steam trading cards, badges, profile backgrounds and emoticons

Collect the full set of cards to craft a badge and unlock profile backgrounds and emoticons for your Steam profile. As Wolvesville is free-to-play, cards drop through Steam’s Free to Play system, so you can pick them up via in-game purchases, pull them from Booster Packs, or trade for them with other players on the Community Market.

Read the full announcement on our Steam page.

Achievements

We also gave the Steam achievements a pass, with a batch of new ones, two reworked, a few fixes and one retired.

Five new achievements, all rewarding long-term dedication:

  • Daily Devotion: claim 365 daily rewards.
  • Seasoned Wolf: reach account level 100.
  • Pack Veteran: reach account level 250.
  • Alpha: reach account level 500.
  • Legend of the Village: reach account level 1,000.

We reworked two so they’re more realistic to earn, and fixed a few that weren’t unlocking when they should:

  • Fire house : instead of burning 8 players in a single night, arsonists now earn it by burning 100 players in total across their games.
  • Influencing the odds : a wolffluencer now unlocks this by influencing a revealed mayor or a preacher whose vote counts for 2 or more, instead of only a preacher sitting on 3 permanent votes.
  • Necromancer : reviving a non-villager as a ritualist now correctly counts, not just as a medium.
  • Gotcha : as a junior werewolf, tagging and avenging a medium who still has their revive ability now unlocks correctly.
  • Win after being converted: winning a game after being converted to another team, for example a cursed human or werewolf fan turned into a werewolf, is now detected properly.

Finally, Eternal glory (win 10,000 games) has been retired.
